I can’t let the first day of year goes away with out my rice cake soup – Ddeokguk (Tteokguk)!
Even though, I wasn’t ready to cook (Because we party so hard. lol),
I had to eat this traditional food for the new year.
Tteokguk is a traditional Korean dish eaten during the celebration of the Korean New Year. The dish consists of the broth/soup (guk) with thinly sliced rice cakes (tteok – it can be called a kind of rice pasta). It is tradition to eat tteokguk on New Year’s day because it is believed to grant the consumer luck for the forthcoming year and gain an additional year of life. It is usually garnished with thin julienned cooked eggs, marinated meat, and gim

Bulgogi isn’t the traditional food for the new year but I had meat that already marinated so I made it.
Well, honestly it’s not a great picture of rice cake soup,
but this is what we ate and it was taste sooooo gooood!!!!
I made totally home style.
The egg is in the soup, not fancy yellow & white separated on the top.
The egg in the soup is taste a lot better than on the top for my taste.
Because it comes together with everything better.
And a lot easy to do it too.
Hehehe.
And, OF COURSE!!!!!
KIMCHI!!!!
Can not start anything with out kimchi! That’s me!! lol
I think that kimchi in the picture turned out a bit more spicier than I normally make.
Because I put lots of red flakes and the red flakes was hotter than the other one that I used to use.
I still love it though! Hehe
One of my new years resolutions is eating healthy.
I will try hard and probably I will come up with lots of healthy Asian recipes for you guys!!
GOOD LUCK ALL OF YOU!!!
새해 복 많이 받으세요~!!
