Lately we started eating lots of vegetable for my hubby’s health.
I just realized that I was cooking without thinking about how it effects our body and health.
I was cooking only for taste on our tongue.
As a chef and a wife I felt ashamed.
So, my hubby and I decided to eat mainly vegetables, meatless as possible.
We still eating seafood, eggs and a little bit of meat but not as much as we were eating.
And I still give meat for my stepdaughter because she still having a hard time to eat mainly vegetables and she needs more nutrition from meat to grow up.
First yesterday I made my Chinese Style Stir-fried Okra.
It’s okra season and we LOVE okra!!
It’s so good for detoxing your body!!
I added bacon but I trimmed big chunk of fats. I know it may sounds stupid, using bacon but trim the fat. lol
It’s because I still wanted the smokey flavor from bacon but I think I need to come up with totally vegetarian version of okra recipe.

And it’s green bean season also. But I’m not a fan of south style green beans.
Normally I blench them and toss in soy, honey, sesame seed & oil.
But I wanted try something new with green beans so I tired Japanese Style Braised Green Beans.
I didn’t measure when I was making this, so I tried very hard to remember how much I put those ingredients, lol
Ingredients
1/2 cup dash stock *
2 Tablespoons soy sauce
2 Tablespoons sake (Rice wine)
1 Tablespoon mirin (Seasoned rice wine)
1 Tablespoon sugar
5 to 6 cups trimmed green beans, cut into 4 to 5 inches long.
Dried and Smoked bonito flakes (Katsuo, Katsuobushi), optional.
* Dash Stock : https://www.seonkyounglongest.com/#!essentials/vstc17=dashi
Direcitons
Combine first 5 ingredients in a large skillet, mix it until well blended.
Bring to boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
Add green beans to the sauce, stir occasionally
When the sauce evaporated and only 1/4 of it left, about 10 to 15 minutes, remove from heat.
Top with dried bonito flakes, serve warm or cold.
I think it will be good bar snack food with sake or Japanese beer.
Because of its natural & mild flavor. ^-^
And egg drop soup!
I tried something different this time for my egg drop soup.
As you know, I received some Sempio products and I’m tasting and testing all of those products lately.
And one of products they sent me is “Yeon Du”, witch is natural liquid seasoning.
In Korea and I believe in Japan, China also, there are lots of seasoning, condiment and flavoring products to make cooking faster and easier.
They are taste good in your mouth and very easy to prepare Asian meal.
But not every of ’em are so good for you.
Especially some of products contains lots of sugar, fat from chicken or beef, MSG, preservatives and more.
That is why I don’t like to use those, I can’t trust ’em.
But this one, “Yeon Du” is something different than other flavoring products that I used to see.
It’s made out of (Mainly) fermented beans, shiitake, onion, garlic, radish, Korean leek, broccoli, and salt.
I liked it made out of vegetables, and no MSG or preservatives.
It’s almost clear looking liquid so whatever you add, it wont change the color of food.
So I decided to try this Yeon Du for my egg drop soup.
Egg drop soup is all about tasty broth and fresh egg.
Without those, you can’t make good egg drop soup.
Instead making home made broth, I just added Yeon Du to water.
And did exactly same thing I normally do for making egg drop soup.

I really surprised, It turned out very good!!!
I think this is my favorite product from Sempio.
It’s very convenient to have & use, and it actually tastes really good!!
Very clean but lots of flavor, witch is I really love.
Everything is natural ingredients with fermented beans so it is actually good for you!
And it saved my time to make the broth for making egg drop soup.
I think I can use this anything that needs broth, and save tons of time!
If you have a chance or see the product, please give it a try! You won’t disappointed. ^-^
High five for healthy meals every body!!
