Hello everyone!
This vacation blog will keep continued about what we ate at the restaurants in WA!
One night, my mom ordered chicken feet as a late night snack.
My mom and I drank Makgeolli (makkoli or makuly or takju)/Korean white rice wine with this Korean style spicy chicken feet.
My mom was going to teach me how to prepare and cook chicken feet but we didn’t have enough time.. 🙁 Next time I will definitely learn it!!
This is baked purple sweet potatoes.
We ate this as a breakfast at home though.
Fried mandu(Korean dumplings)!
I haven’t eat this for a long time, it is mandu(Korean dumplings) but a bit different than what you used to see on the internet. Because it’s more like a snack type mandu. It has less meat, more vegetables and glass noodles. I ate these a lot when I was in middle school and high school. ^^
Steamed mandu(Korean dumplings) and Deokbokki (Tteokbokki or topokki)!
Ahhhhhhh…….. ddeokbokki’s never been my favorite, but since I live in US I started appreciate to ddeokbokki much more. I still don’t make it very often, because I have the way how I like my ddeokbokki to be and extra toppings that got to be there for my taste. lol And to make that happen, it is too much work. lol I would love to show you guys one day though. ^^
In the same restaurant we ate mandu and ddeokbokki.
Actually it’s a Korean grocery store + restaurant. You will find lots of Asian grocery stores in US including restaurant also. It is very rare to find store like that in Korea, but some how it works in US.
Look at all the pickled side dishes!! It’s incredible that how many side dishes we have.. In the picture it shows only popular type of kimchi and pickles! Not even including other cooking type side dishes at all. I wish I could shopping here every week or month. My life will be a lot easier and flavorful! hehe.
This is picture from a Thai restaurant close to my sister’s house.
Let me tell you this first. My sister and nephew doesn’t eat cilantro. They can’t even smell it. It was very sad for me because Thai food without cilantro… kinda lost the fresh popping finish! Cilantro actually bring all to flavors together at the last so to me. I understand there are people who don’t like cilantro at all, I was one of them.
The first time I had cilantro, I spited out! I couldn’t take the soapy taste in my mouth! But I love food so much, so I kept trying and trying to eat cilantro and get to know each others because I knew how important cilantro is to so many cuisines. So now, I love cilantro, I even eat cilantro salad! lol Love can change everything, right? ^^
Tom Kha gai looks so sorry without cilantro but it still tasted so good.
Pad See Ew(Phat si io) with chicken, Stir fried flat rice noodles with sweet soy.
It was very delicious! ^-^
Thai seafood salad. It was a bit different that I expected but was still good. One of dishes that I want to recreate.
Then next day, my mom took me to a Korea restaurant in her town.
She said it’s a new Korean restaurant and she wanted to check it out with me! ^^ Lucky me! hehe
Those are just beginning side dishes that they serve right away after you order your main. Ah, I haven’t seen this kind/much Korean side dishes in US since I left Korea. I don’t know why but most(Not all!) of Korean restaurants in US cut down the side dishes to very minimum … And I believe Korean side dishes – Banchan is one of biggest part of Korean cuisine. So I was very happy to see all the banchan from this Korean restaurant!
We ordered bossam (Korean boiled pork eaten with a salty sauce and wrapped in greens)
This is sweet radish bossam kimchi, including lots of fresh oysters! ♥ Love it! ♥
Yeah, bossam should made with pork belly not lean pork – pork tender loin or loin. So the final product will still juicy and moist.
AH!!! One of my favorite favorite favorite side dish!! Steamed eggs!! So airy, hot and delicious!!
This is a picture of steamed monkfish in spicy sauce. Mostly you see on the dish is soy bean sprouts, but don’t worry that is how it suppose to be! The soy bean sprouts are very delicious too!!
Oh yeah, look at that!! This is what I’m talking about!! ♥
The table is about to falling down because of how much food on it!! lol
Thank you mama for took me to the restaurant, we enjoyed so much!
I miss WA because of the great restaurants and grocery stores, but mostly, I miss the time that my mom and I spent together. I miss her so much!! Hopefully we can get together very soon again..!!
♥ To be Continued ♥

I love to eat chicken feet, the way they are prepared in your photo looks amazing. What are they cooked in or marinated with?
Also here where I live we have Vallarta Market and it is like a restaurant/supermarket but for Mexican groceries. What was the name of the Asian grocery store?
I will have to make a blog about it soon and send you the link. I love it there! But it gets so crowded sometimes it’s hard to enjoy your meal.
My mom always makes with soy, Korean red flakes and garlic base.
And the one we had from the restaurant was pretty much same seasoning. So spicy and savory and nice texture!
I don’t remember the store name, I’m sorry Susie! >.<
