I personally love spicy food but not so care about fried rice, unless, it’s spicy. lol So I had to come up with my own Ultimate Spicy Fried Rice Recipe! This recipe is so satisfying, also has lots of vegetables and protein that will make it a full meal!

When I made this first time, I was coming back home from New York after a meeting with Food Network. The flight on the way back home, I was just craving so badly this spicy fried rice with ice cold beer. So, as soon as I landed and made home, I made this spicy fried rice and pared with ice cold beer as I imagined on the plane.

I tried this recipe yesterday and it is now my new favourite way to cook spicy fried rice! I was a committed laoganma fried rice person until now but oddly enough, I had run out of the chili crisp in oil that you use, so I used way-on chilli oil w/ shrimp instead and it was AMAZING.

The wok and the skillet I use the most(in the video & real life) are T-fal 8inch non stick wok & large nonstick skillet. The wok is Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution line but I haven’t seen for a long time at the market. But you can find similar ones any kitchen stores or online! This is the similar one I could fine! http://amzn.to/23rT92Y
Oh, and RachelRay brand makes similar one with a lid!(http://amzn.to/20rsFw0)

I am so glad I found this recipe! I made this using cauliflower rice to lower calories, and it was still awesome.
I just have one question:. Is there any suggestions on how to make it a little sweeter?

Seonkyoung December 7, 2017 - 8:15 am

Just add a sprinkle of sugar! 😀

Hej! Seokyoung. I don’t have the LaoGanMa chili oil with chili flakes. Is there a substitute you can suggest? Thank you in advance. Aja!

Loved this! Made it tonight, and added red pepper flakes since I didn’t have chili oil. Also used julienned carrots and zucchini. It was delicious! Our new fave fried rice recipe! Thank you! I can’t wait to check out your other recipes!

Hi Seonk I didn’t make the spicy fried rice, but I always make the regular fried rice, but I wanted to say about your spicy fried rice, it is tasteful done. And Why? Because most Americans make hot and spicy food with nothing but a dose of black pepper sprinkle all over the food (like Outback coconut stump) the saturation of overly seasoned food with pepper leaves it hot especially when you eat cold from the refrigerator Also I seen a lot of fried rice recipes that I find that is a turn off, especially when the rice is seasoned with something else other than soy sauce and salt. Like pepper flakes and black and white pepper. I always thought fried rice is supposed to be seasoned with salt and soy sauce,That’s it! Nothing else, Anything else added and you might as well call it something else.

Is this recipe supposed to be made with 2 cups of cooked rice or all of 2 cups of rice, cooked?

I was in search of a dinner for 1 recipe and made it with what I had on hand (not much!). I used a cup and a half of cooked basmati, half a cooked chicken breast, a few thawed cooked shrimp, and 2 stalks of celery. I halved the sauce and used 2 tsp each sambal, soy sauce and chili crisp. IT WAS DELISH but definitely would not have fed 2 people which is why I think the recipe calls for 2 cups of rice to be cooked.

Hello Corina, Yes, it is 2 cups of cooked rice. This is one of my favorites so even when I make it I want to eat it all, lol. Sometimes we double up the recipe to make sure we have enough 🙂
