Are you ready to cook with me? Let’s get started!

First thing is first, let’s chop some garlic. A LOT of garlic.

garlic
About 1 tbsp chopped garlic per 1 cup of rice.

Chop the garlic even size as possible, so they will cook evenly later.

In a cold  wok or a skillet, add cooking oil and chopped garlic. Turn on the heat to medium and cook the garlic until golden brown, about 3 to 5 minutes. Stir occasionally.

This way, the garlic flavor will melt in to the oil as well, it’s going to be magical!

Toss in rice and salt. Add black pepper to your taste, but I didn’t add to enjoy pure garlic flavor.

I like to use jasmine rice when I’m making fried rice. It is fluffy, has a beautiful fragrance and works amazing when you make fried rice. If you don’t have jasmine rice, long-grain or basmati rice would work great too!

Mix everything well until every single grain of rice is coated with garlic and oil.

Turn off the heat, and it’s done!

Enjoy with other main dish you are serving with or simply with egg of your style for breakfast. Add any of protein to elevate the fried rice, such as egg, bacon, spam, chicken, beef or shrimp… Feel free to be creative!

Enjoy~!

I think you see this kind of fried rice in almost all Filipino household. There are times when egg is added in there, too. But lots and lots of garlic. Very easy yet so delicious!

P.S. I just made it today with brown rice. Yum!

Looks delicious! Will try it soon. Just wondering for the rice, is it 5 cups of rice before cooking (scoop 5 cups of rice then cook it in the rice cooker) or 5 cups of cooked rice? Hope it doesn’t confuse you haha..

It would be 5 cups of cooked jasmine or any leftover rice you would have (:

A simple recipe with so much flavor impact! I made this as a side dish for a sweet and spicy tofu main, and it was the perfect compliment for it. Definitely a keeper!
