Matcha Dutch Baby Pancake! (Green Tea Dutch Baby)
This recipe is ridiculously easy to make for your breakfast, brunch or dessert! I made this recipe way too often now days, and never get tired of it!
I LOVE anything matcha (green tea) flavored dessert, so I had to make this recipe and of course it was perfect!
Matcha, green tea’s quality is very important for the right amount bitterness, flavor and bright green color for any matcha recipe. And for this particular recipe, it’s even more important.
I’ve tried this recipe with random matcha powder that is not premium quality, the color was ugly yellow-ish green, super bitter and didn’t rise.
So make sure to have premium quality matcha powder and down below are my recommendation.
Both can be purchase on amazon or your local Japanese grocery store.
Alright, are you ready to match dutch baby pancake recipe? Let’s get started!
Place 9 to 10-inch cast iron pan in oven. Preheat oven to 450f.
Beat room temperature eggs in a large mixing bowl. Add your choice of unsweetened & no flavored milk (make sure it’s room temperature), sugar and salt and mix well until smooth.
Sift flour, matcha powder and baking powder into wet ingredients mixture. Mix everything well with a whisk.
Carefully, take out hot cast iron pan and add butter. Let it melt completely then pour the batter into pan. The pan is super hot so the butter will bubble and that’s what you want!
Quickly place pan back to preheated oven and bake pancake for 20 minutes.
During the baking time, DO NOT open the oven to check if matcha dutch baby is doing good. You have to just trust the process and let them do what they need to do!
Meanwhile, mix agave nectar or honey with a little drizzle of vanilla extract.
Remove matcha dutch baby from oven.
Garnish with mixed berries, drizzle agave nectar and dust with powder sugar.
Enjoy!

This looks amazing! Would you be able to do this in a normal oven pan or does it have to be cast iron?
It will not work if you do not use a cast iron pan, it is highly recommended.
These look absolutely amazing
If I only have 12 inch cast iron pan, how should I modify the recipe?
