Spicy Garlic Edamame Recipe!
This is probably the easiest, quickest, and the simplest recipe I’ve ever shared with you! It takes literally 5 minutes to complete this beloved spicy garlic edamame at home, and I will give you an option to make this just garlic edamame with no spicy flavor. This recipe is quick but has so many flavors that will surprise you! I know you will LOVE this one!
I came up with this recipe not only because I’m tired of overpaying to a restaurant for this cheap dish to make, but because I grabbed a 6 lbs bag of frozen edamame from Costco. 😂 Honestly, I questioned myself while grabbing it if I could eat it all before the freezer burned. (We are a family of 2!) But it’s really halfway gone now, and all I cooked with was this spicy garlic edamame! 😂👍🏼
It is such a great appetizer, snack, or drinking food, and give it a try! Let’s get started!
Bring 1/4 cup water to a boil in a wok or skillet where you’re going to stir fry edamame. This way we can reduce the dishes we wash… 😂 No need to steam or in a separate pot! When water is boiling, add a pinch of salt and edamame. Stir, then cover and steam edamame until there’s no more water for about 3 to 4 minutes. Stir occasionally for the edamame to cook evenly. If some water remains, pour out.
Add 2 tbsp chili oil with chili flakes or lao gan ma, vegetarian oyster sauce, and garlic. If you want to make a mild version, use 2 tbsp cooking oil instead of chili oil. Also, add a pinch of salt and black pepper. Stir fry all together until everything is combined, about 1 minute. Transfer spicy garlic edamame to a serving bowl and sprinkle with some sesame seeds and fried shallot. Fried shallot is optional. You can easily find fried shallot from a local Asian grocery store or make it yourself!
Enjoy!
