4 minutes spicy garlic shrimp, Asian at Homestyle!
I have shared garlic shrimp (that you guys LOVED so much!) and lemongrass shrimp recipes. I just felt like it’s time for me to share some spicy garlic shrimp… bold, packed with flavors, textures, and attitude!!
This spicy garlic shrimp recipe is great just by itself, with garlic noodles or steamed/fried rice, or maybe toss some linguine/spaghetti in it! I’ll take it with zooddles and a glass of wine or two for dinner after a long day!
It only takes 4 minutes total cooking time, including melting the butter, sautéing garlic and everything! No excuse not to make this recipe for a weeknight dinner at home.
Mix oyster sauce (you can use vegetarian oyster sauce if you are allergic to shellfish), honey, chili oil with chili flakes, and black pepper in a small mixing bowl, set aside.
I always like to chop and cut all the veggies ahead when I know the cooking time is really not that long. So the few minutes of cooking time will go smooth and effortlessly.
Heat a large skillet over high heat, add butter and let it melt and bubble. Add garlic and sauce the garlic until the edges are light golden about 1 minute. Make sure not to overcook the garlic, they will turn from light brown to dark brown in a second!!
Add shrimp and combine with garlic quickly. It took me about 30 to 45 seconds.
Pour Shaoxing wine and deglaze the skillet. I used Shaoxing wine but you can use any cooking wine you have. Sake (rice wine) will be the best substitute option, but white wine also works great!
If you don’t want to consume alcohol in your cooking, use water.
Pour the sauce mixture and mix everything well and turn off the heat. The cooking time for shrimp should not be more than 2 minutes for 31/40 shrimp.
Toss in chopped green onion, chili, and cilantro. You can skip the chili if you prefer.
Garnish with fried shallot and serve with lemon or lime wedges.
Enjoy!

Tasty, quick, and easy recipe! I really like the fusion flavor of this recipe, and how almost all of the ingredients are pantry and freezer staples for me. I tossed it over Angel Hair Pasta and it was superb. Definitely going to keep this recipe on hand for those hectic days.
Yes this is the perfect recipe for those hectic days!
I made your recipe the other night. Oh my it was so good I decided to make it again but shrimp were to expensive $27.00 for a 2lb bag. So I made it with chicken tenders. Wow! It was just as good. I’ve made several of your recipes and they never disappoint . Keep posting!
Thank you so much for your loyal support! I can’t thank you enough! I will definitely try my best and keep posting quality recipes
really yummy recipe.
So good every single time! If you don’t have shrimp you can substitute different meats and/or veggies! I used zucchini in one of batches and I really enjoyed. If she had a cook book I would buy it in a heart beat! No lie! I hope she comes out with a cooking book soon!
What drew me to this recipe … is your video .. so inviting and you made it look easy. And it is. Had to substitute .. no chili oil so just added chili garlic sauce with oyster sauce and honey. Added red onion mince and love your amount of garlic .. 10 or more. And followed everything and added green onions ( Hubby not crazy with cilantro). Quick and tasty. Serve with brown rice and vegetables( snow peas and carrot) Thank you for sharing
I’m so glad I could help out! I hope you find my other recipes just as helpful!
You often use Red Chili Peppers that seem to have a green short stem. Where can I purchase them? Are they fresh or dried? Do they have a more specific name as there are many kinds of red peppers. Thanks. Great Job.
