Ram-don AKA Chapaguri in Korean dish from movie Parasite.
Parasite, 기생충 is South Korean black comedy thriller film directed by Bong Joon-ho. Parasite wins 4 Oscars. It is the film that took home the most awards at the Oscars 2020, winning four Academy Awards at tonight’s Oscars including Best Picture, Directing, International Feature Film and Writing (Original Screenplay).
As a Korean, I’m SUPER proud. I can’t event describe how proud I am by words. When Parasite got all the spot light, there is a Korean food that also got the spot light- called Chapaguri in Korean or as known as Ram-don in English (It’s mixture words of “Ramen” and “Udon”.).
The recipe is super simple. Cook 2 different kinds of Korean instant ramen noodles (Neoguri, spicy seafood noodles & Chapagetti, Korean black noodles). This recipe has been very popular in Korea even before the movie, but now it is more famous because of the movie. In the movie, they added sirloin steak, to showcase the rich family life style and that’s only thing is different than original chapaguri, ramdon.
These are the two Korean instant ramen noodles to make Ram-don, Chapaguri.
So many people already shared the recipe how to make ram-don, but I had to share my own recipe. It is very simple to make, but you do need right seasoning and cooking technique to make it super delicious.
Bring enough water to boil to cook 2 packages of Korean instant ramen. Heat a large skillet over high heat.
Drop both instant ramen noodles and dehydrated vegetable mixture (no seasoning package yet!) into boiling water and cook for 3 to 4 minutes.
Meanwhile, add steak chunks into the preheated skillet and sprinkle garlic salt and black pepper. Cook the steak and sear them evenly all sides, about 2 to 3 minutes.
Now, add cooked noodles into the steak along with both seasoning packages and butter.
Add 1/2 to 3/4 cup of the ramen noodle water into the skillet and mix everything together, until everything is well combined, about 1 minute. Add 2 tbsp more ramen noodle water as needed.
Transfer to a serving bowl and enjoy!

Hi Seonkyoung, can you please tell me if you have a sweet radish kimchi recipe? Thank you in advance. I love all your dishes!
So far I’ve only tried your version of this ramdon recipe. Its was good, but very salty. That was to be expected since both seasoning packets were used dry with very little water to dilute it. I realized that the next time I make this, I will use half the seasoning packet from both seasonings. But I do like the garlic salt on the beef. 👍
This was really good but I would do something different with the beef. My fault as I under seasoned and over cooked a bit. If you want a quick meal then this is perfect. If you have a little more time then marinate meat in some sort of marinade for about 30 min. I wouldn’t do much longer since the seasoning packets are fairly salty and flavorful which I love!
It looks good but I was wondering if I could use chicken instead of beef
Had this tonight with the Udon style noodles. It was a fast night so I didn’t have steak I had spam! Hawaiian Steak! Well it was amazing and the kids loved it! They said next time they want steak! Good thing I bought a whole box of this stuff.
This was really good. Did some changes sorry. I didn’t have steak so I used Hawaiian Steak. Yup I used Spam!!! I also used 3 garlic cloves and minced them down. Sautéed the spam, butter with garlic. Added the noodles with the packets. No garlic salt. Packets are to salty. Also used white pepper and drizzled it at the end with sesame oil and green onions. Omg. This was so good!!!! I am enjoying all your recipes. Instead of watching Netflix I watched at least 20 of your videos today.
Tried this today and I love it! At first I just used half of the Neoguri packet but then realized that it’s a little bland for my taste so I finish the whole thing and it was perfect for me. One thing I need to change next time is to remove beef from the pan once cooked to prevent them from being well done. Btw I also added Garlic slices to saute with the butter and it’s so so good. This dish is perfect with Danmuji and Kimchi! Thanks for this recipe!! 🙂
My Family Loved it. I am definitely sharing Guys, Thanks For sharing this Great Recipe. this recipe and this website with my friend. Hope they also love it. Thank you again for sharing such a great recipe.
