Today I wanted to show you guys how to delicious Korean BBQ, Samgyeosal!
Samgyeopsal is pork belly in Korean. Sam means Three, Gyeop means Layer and Sal means meat.
As you can see see most of pork belly is beautifully layered with fat and meat.
You can make prepare this amazing Korean BBQ dinner table with other cuts of pork, and my second choice will be pork butt or pork shoulder.
When I was a little kid, we always did this Korean BBQ dinner table with pork shoulder more often than samgyeopsal. So no worries, even though if you can’t find samgyeopsal. 🙂
Of course, grill samgyeopsal with lots of vegetables. My favorite is mushrooms, kimchi, potato/sweet potato, tofu, onion and soy bean sprouts.
To grill samgyeopsal you can use any types of pan, but if you go to Korean/Asian store you can buy these pans that made for Samgyeopsal/Korean BBQ.

These are the basic dipping sauces for Samgyeopsal.
The one on the left is mixture of salt, pepper, toasted sesame seeds and oil.
The one on the left is Ssamjang, Korean dipping sauce that made with Gochujang, Doenjang and other seasonings. You can also buy this from here: http://amzn.to/1M5haku
Place everything and anything you want to grill on top of the grill pan, and just cook & eat!
I always start with Samgyeopsal, mushroom and onion. When the pan is covered with pork fat, I place kimchi and tofu. 🙂
Tongs and kitchen scissors are essential for Korean BBQ. Because you need to cut meat and vegetables as needed. It is so much convenience than trying to cut with a knife.
Also control the heat as you go, there are no rules. 🙂
The best part of Korean BBQ and Samgyeopsal is eating while you are cooking! How awesome is that?! It is perfect for a person like me, who is impatient. ;-b
Don’t forget to wrap with lettuce and Kkatnip(Korean wild sesame leaf)!
I like to wrap it with raw garlic, chili and ssamjang together!
