Well, the college championship game is getting sad and sad.. My hubby and I go for ND and they are not doing very well tonight.. 🙁
I even made this Hawaiian dish poke to cheer ND!!!
My hubby is big ND fan and I like Manti Te’o(Defense number 5 of ND) and he is from Hawaii, so I decided to make poke, one of the Hawaiian dishes we love!
Even though they are having a very bad day today, we are still here for support them!!
So, coming back to poke, I show you how I made poke tonight. No twist, just simple how it is.
You need to get freshest salmon or tuna(those 2 are me and my hubby’s favorites to make poke). Poke is raw fish dish, so the freshness of the fish is very VERY important. Otherwise, you might get sick. So Please try this recipe when you find very fresh fish(sashimi quality) from market.
Cut into 1/2 inch cubes, put it into a large mixing bowl.
Add 2 chopped green onion, 2 cloves chopped garlic, 1 teaspoon sesame seeds, 3 Tablespoons soy sauce, 1 Tablespoon chili garlic sauce(sambal) and 1 Tablespoon sesame oil. Add pinch of salt and pepper for taste if you desired.
Gently combine everything together, with your hand or wooden spoon.
Cover, refrigerate until serving. (It has to be cold)
Meanwhile, let’s make some fried rice crackers!
I found this from local Asian store, I was so surprised because I didn’t know they make it like this and sell at store. Those are basically cooked and dried rice, and after you deep fry it, it puffs.
It says “Sizzling Rice” on the package, because after it’s fried if you pour any kind of sauce over it(when it’s still hot), it sizzles!!! And that’s how it normally serves.
Looks like cooked and dried rice in a shape! 🙂
You can half-fry like how I did in this picture, or deep fry it until nice and golden brown.
You have to keep your eyes on it, because it cooks very fast!
My poke turned out beautifully! So delicious and flavorful!!
Savory, spicy and nutty.. Delish!!
And with the sizzling rice cracker, even better!! ♥
You can serve with other kind of chips that you like, of course.
I like to eat with rice too.
If we have leftover poke, I just put on top of warm rice, and pour all the sauce underneath. Ahhh, heavenly!!
I hope you try this recipe someday!
Too good not to try! 🙂
Thank you for reading my blog and I love you all!! ♥
