Hi everyone!
What did you have for lunch today?
I made this delicious lunch for my hubby and myself today, it turned out pretty well! I’m so happy~♥
I had panko breaded pork chop(Donkatsu) in my refrigerator already, and I wanted to make something different. So, I did! 🙂
First, I preheat oven 425 degrees, and took out my donkatsu from refrigerator and lay on a baking sheet with parchment paper lined. Drizzle with grape seed oil for nice brown color later. Bake it for 25 to 30 minutes until it brown and cooked through.
Mean while, let’s make orange glaze!
Heat 1 Tablespoon butter in small sauce pan over medium heat, add 2 cloves chopped garlic, 1/2 teaspoon chopped ginger, and 1 Tablespoon chopped onion. Add pinch of salt and pepper saute until fragrance, about 2 minutes.
Squeeze 1 1/2 fresh orange juice(about 1/2 cup) and 1/2 fresh lemon juice into sauce pan, add 3 Tablespoons honey and a pinch of salt as well. Stir and simmer for 5 minutes.
I added 1/2 teaspoon sriracha to balance the sweetness, so if you like a bit spicy, try it! if you don’t just leave it out. 🙂
Meanwhile the donkatsu in oven and orange glaze is simmering, wash your broccolini.
I blench them in salted boiling water for 1 minute. Drain, do NOT shock with ice water.
I tossed broccolini with 1 teaspoon sesame oil, 2 Tablespoon soy sauce, 1 Tablespoon honey, pinch of black pepper and 1 teaspoon sesame seeds. This time I added some orange zest also, if you like to you can, but it’s optional.
Set aside in a warm spot until we finish the green tea fried rice and glaze.
Mix 1 teaspoon each – corn starch and cold water.
Add into simmering orange glaze, while you are whisking the glaze.
And it will look like this! 🙂
Remove from heat, set aside while we are frying rice real quick!
Heat a wok over medium high heat; add 1 Tablespoon butter.
Add 2 cups cooked rice, 1 teaspoon green tea powder(matcha) and pinch of salt.
Fry rice until green tea powder combined with rice evenly.
Then the rice will turn out beautiful and lovely green like this!
It’s mildly bitter like green tea and buttery. So good with sweet orange honey glaze and broccolini!
Take out donkatsu from oven, and cut into 3/4 inch thick strips so it’s easy to eat with chopsticks. 🙂
Assemble the dish by put everything on a serving plate.
Rice, broccolini, donkatsu and orange glaze on top of the donkatsu.
Drizzle 1 teaspoon honey over entire dish for each plates. It brings all the component together harmoniously.
Sprinkle some sesame seeds if you like.
TARRAAANNN~ There you have it!
Green Tea Fried Rice, Broccolini, and Baked Donkatsu with Orange Glaze!
Delicious!
If you like to, you can make entire meal together like how I made and served. Or you can make individual dishes, eat and serve as you desired!
I hope you try sometime!!
Good luck in your kitchen and thank you for reading my blog!!
Love you all!!♥
XOXO
